I write quiet, modern thrillers about the people who watch us — and the ones we let in. If that sounds like your kind of trouble, pull up a chair.

“She wanted to be found.
She was.”

The Debut
One notification changed everything.
At sixty, Taryn Chase is finally living her dream of becoming an author. Her debut novel is a success.
But when her publisher insists she join TikTok to help promote it, Taryn finds herself reluctantly thrown into the baffling world of hashtags, algorithms and online followers.
Then one post accidentally goes viral.
Suddenly, readers are finding her. Including Callie — funny, loyal and endlessly enthusiastic. The kind of follower every author dreams of having.
At first, Taryn is grateful. But the messages keep coming. The boundaries begin to blur. And Callie starts taking up far more space in Taryn’s life than she’s comfortable with.
Eventually, Taryn decides enough is enough. She blocks her.
Problem solved.
Or so Taryn thinks.
Because her real problems are only just beginning.
“Utterly compelling and uncomfortably real.”

The Follow — Chapter One
Read by the author
“The first message arrived on a Tuesday — the dull, ordinary kind of Tuesday that no one ever remembers afterwards…”
Whispers
“I read it in one sitting. Then sat staring at the wall for an hour.”
“Quietly devastating. The last fifty pages are a freight train.”
“Wilde writes the modern internet like she’s been spying on it. Unsettling, brilliant.”
“The audiobook is hypnotic. Don’t start it before bed.”
“I haven’t looked at a notification the same way since.”
“Smart, dark, funny in the places you don’t expect.”
“A debut with the grip of a fifth novel.”
“Finished it at 2am. Couldn’t sleep. Worth it.”

Behind the pages
I write the kind of stories I’ve always wanted to read — quiet on the surface, restless underneath. Modern thrillers about ordinary people, an unread message, a half-open door, a kindness that costs too much.
I’m fascinated by the things we don’t say out loud. The version of ourselves we put online. The strangers who think they know us. The friends who sometimes don’t.
The Follow is the first novel I’ve dared to send out into the world. There are more on the way — and I’d love you to come along for them.
— E.W.
“Story starts somewhere.” It’s written on the wall above my desk, in case I forget.
An invitation
A small, quiet room of readers I write to directly. Early chapters before anyone else, the occasional letter from my desk, deleted scenes, and the odd confession I probably shouldn’t put in print.
No noise. No spam. Just stories.
“Pull up a chair. The kettle’s on.”
One email. Your name and address — that’s it. Unsubscribe whenever you like; the door is always unlocked from the inside.
